Update progress

Update your goals, backdate updates, and edit or delete them.

ℹ️ Available on all plans.

Regular progress updates keep everyone aligned on how your goals are doing. You can update Key Results, Initiatives, and KPIs. An Objective's progress is calculated from its Key Results, so you don't update it directly.

To have progress update automatically from another tool, see Progress drivers.

Update a goal

You don't need to open a goal to update it. On Home, Explore, a user's page, or a team's page, hover over the goal and click Update (1), or click its progress bar (2).

You can also open the goal and click Update (1).

In the update form:

  1. Enter the New value (2).

  2. Choose the New status (3): on track, needs attention, or off track.

  3. Add a Comment (4) to explain what changed. Click Draft with AI to let the AI Agent suggest one.

  4. Optionally, change the Date (5) to backdate the update.

  5. Click Save (6).

💡 If your Superadmin turned on Automatically set statuses for goals, Perdoo suggests a status based on the goal's progress. You can still pick a different one.

Update all your goals at once

  1. Go to Home.

  2. In the Action Center, find Share your progress and click Update now.

  3. Turn on Show only goals due an update to focus on the goals that need it.

  4. Update each goal in the list the same way as above.

Backdate an update

Backdate an update when the progress happened earlier than the day you record it, for example:

  • You were on holiday and catch up on your updates afterwards.

  • Finance reports figures a few days after the month ends.

  • You want the final result to land on the last day of the goal's timeframe.

To backdate, pick an earlier date in the Date field (5) of the update form. You can't pick a date in the future.

Edit or delete an update

ℹ️ Only the person who made an update, or a Superadmin, can edit or delete it.

  1. Open the goal and scroll to the Activity feed.

  2. To show only updates, use the filter (3) and select Progress updates only.

  3. Hover over the update and click Edit (1) or Delete (2).

Important

  • You can change an update's value, status, and comment, but not its date. To change the date, delete the update and add a new one with the right date.

  • Deleting an update can't be undone.

Good to know

How is the progress change calculated?

Progress is the share of the distance between the start value and the target that you've covered. For example, a Key Result starts at 12.4 with a target of 16. If you update it to 12.55, you've covered 0.15 of 3.6, so progress is 4.2%. Progress never goes below 0% or above 100%.

When does a goal show Update due?

A goal shows Update due when it hasn't been updated within its update frequency. See Set the frequency.

Can I update goals from my phone, Slack, or Microsoft Teams?

How do I add many past updates at once?

Use the Google Sheets Add-on to add a goal's progress history in one go.
