Sometimes your originally planned Key Results or Initiatives no longer make sense. This can be due to changing circumstances, restrictions (time, budget, approval, scope) or you simply picked the wrong measurement.
How to archive a Key Result or Initiative
To archive a Key Result or Initiative, use the 3-dot menu and select Archive. You'll then be asked to fill out a template.
Important notes:
Superadmins can customize the template under Configure > Templates > Archiving Key Results & Initiatives.
Archived Key Results & Initiatives do not count towards progress.
Archiving vs. Editing a Key Result or Initiative
Sometimes it makes sense to modify a Key Result or Initiative instead of archive it. This depends on the nature and scope of the modification, as well as if the Key Result or Initiative was started. If it's a minor edit, then it's ok to modify the name of the existing Result if it hasn't been started. If the edit changes the nature of the Result, then it's best to archive it to record why you're not pursuing it anymore and create a new one.
Make visible and restore archived Key Results and Initiatives
Within the Objective modal you'll find the option to Show or Hide archived. This allows you to ensure you're only seeing the Key Results and Initiatives that you want to see.
To restore an archived Key Result or Initiative, make sure you've clicked 'Show archived', locate the archived goal, click the 3-dot menu and select Restore:

Important notes:
The templated questions are customizable by a Superadmin in Configure > Templates > Closing notes. Make sure to read this article to understand why our default templates are set up like this.
You can find the Closing note on the goal's details page or the 'Closing note' column in Cascade.
If you're not ready to close it yet, but want to start the closing process, you can uncheck 'Mark as Closed' and this will save your inputs as a draft.
Once a Key Result or Initiative is closed, you cannot update it anymore. If you need to update a goal, you'll need to reopen the goal.
You do also have the option to delete a Key Result or Initiative, however, this action is permanent and irreversible. An OKR cannot be restored after it's been deleted.
Closing an Objective will close all of its Key Results and Initiatives.
How to edit the Closing Note of a Key Result or Initiative
Select 'Edit Closing Note' within the modal or dropdown menu to edit the notes submitted.
When to re-open a closed Key Result or Initiative
