ℹ️ Available on all plans.
Every goal has a Team, a Lead, and Contributors. You find them in the goal's People panel:
Team: Who the goal belongs to, such as your company or the Marketing team.
Lead: The one person ultimately responsible for the goal.
Contributors: The other people who help achieve the goal, from inside or outside its team.
Choose the team
The team decides whose goal it is and on which page it shows:
Company goal: Select your company as the team. The goal shows on your company's page.
Team goal: Select a team, such as the Marketing team. The goal shows on that team's page.
Shared goal: Select several teams. The goal shows on each team's page. See Shared goals.
Individual goal: Leave the team empty. The goal then only has a Lead.
Important
Only Superadmins can add Company OKRs. See Roles & rights.
You can only leave the team empty when a Superadmin has turned on Individual goals in Features.
What the Lead does
Updates the goal's progress.
Keeps the goal on track.
Is the main point of contact for questions about the goal.
Being the Lead doesn't mean working on the goal alone. Add the people who help as Contributors.
What Contributors can do
Edit the goal and update its progress.
Add sub-goals, such as Key Results and Initiatives. A Standard user who isn't a member of the goal's team can only do this as a Contributor.
See the goal when it's private. Private goals are only visible to their Lead and Contributors, and to Admins and Superadmins.
For an overview of who can do what, see Roles & rights.
Change the team, Lead, or Contributors
Open the goal.
In the People panel, click Team (1), Lead (2), or Contributors (3).
Search for and select a team or person. To remove a team, click it again.
You can also change the team or Lead on Home, Explore, a user's page, or a team's page: Click the goal's team or avatar in the Team or Lead column.
When you add a goal, you choose the team and Lead in the form. To add Contributors, click Advanced options.
Good to know
Who should be the Lead?
Spread the ownership. Executives and team leads don't have time to lead every goal, so make team members the Lead where you can. As a guideline:
| Strategic Pillar | KPI | OKR | Initiative |
Company | Executive | Executive | Executive | Anyone |
Team | Executive or team lead | Team lead or member | Team lead or member | Anyone |
Can a goal have more than one Lead?
No. A goal has one Lead, so it's always clear who's responsible. Add everyone else who works on it as Contributors.
Can a goal belong to a different team than its parent goal?
Yes. For example, a Key Result can belong to the Sales team while its Objective belongs to your company.
