KPIs monitor your business as usual: everything that you need to do to keep the engine running.
Perdoo offers advanced functionality to ensure that you can track the targets for your KPIs in the right way.
These settings are available when you create a KPI, or — if you've already added the KPI — in the panel on the right when you open the KPI.
Target type
Perdoo offers 4 different target types for KPIs. The target type defines how the target value should be interpreted.
Below are the 4 different target types, including a few example metrics that typically use this target type.
Stay at or above X
Gross Profit Margin
Visitor to Lead Rate
NPS
Stay at or below X
Employee Turnover Rate
Customer / MRR Churn Rate
Increase to X
Revenue, MRR, or ARR
Market Share
Number of Active Users (DAU/MAU)
Decrease to X
No. of open bugs
Backlog size
Inventory levels
CO2 emissions
X represents the target value, which you'll set separately in the Targets section underneath the Progress-over-time chart.
Reset to 0
When you set the Target type to 'Increase to' or 'Decrease to', you'll see another option 'Reset to 0'.
Enabling this resets the target value to 0 at the start of each month, quarter, or year (depending on the Target frequency).
The target will then gradually increase to reach the set target value by the end of the year. You'll also see this in the Progress-over-time chart of the KPI.
This is great for KPIs like sales targets where progress is often 0 at the start of a new period.
Target frequency
Select how often targets will be set. You can choose between monthly, quarterly or annual targets in the right panel of the KPI.
This will impact the target frequency below the POT graph, as well as on the KPI boards where you can enter the target values.
Click on + in any cell to add or adjust a target for that month, or Remove target to delete the target for that month. Choose whether the KPI should be greater or less than your target value.
The new target will then be applied to all following months that don't already have a target defined.
Columns where the target value has been changed are shown in a darker font, whereas columns where the target value is unchanged are shown in a lighter font.
Update frequency
You can customize how often the KPI's progress should be updated, irrespective of the Target frequency.
For example, you may have an annual target for your company's revenue KPI, but still want to review month to month how it is progressing. In that case, you'll set the Target frequency to Annually and the Update frequency to Monthly.
💡 Pro tip: To view KPIs across multiple teams, use KPI Boards.
