Strategic Timeline (found under Stategy>Timeline) boosts alignment by building a shared understanding of what's been done in the past, and what's planned for the future, to support your organization's strategy. The Timeline offers you the flexibility to draft, plan, and adjust as you see fit during your strategic planning process.
In this article:
An overview of your Strategic Timeline
Perdoo offers yet another way to operationalize your strategy through the Strategic Timeline. View quarterly or annual Objectives that apply to a specific Strategic Pillar, across multiple timeframes. Go back to see what worked during a retrospective or go forward to plan ahead.
Each lane in the Timeline shows the performance of each Pillar (with KPI health over time) and what is being planned or has been done in the past across each cadence to support them (with OKRs).
Unfold a Pillar to view the OKRs and KPIs that are aligned to it:
When folded, easily see how many OKRs are aligned to each Pillar:
* NOTE: Private OKRs or KPIs don't appear on the Strategic Timeline.
By default, your current timeframe is set as the beginning of the Timeline (the leftmost column). Use the left or right arrows to see what is planned, what's being worked on now, or what has been worked on in the past to support a Strategic Pillar.
Select the Today button at any point to jump back to the current timeframe:
Depending on your cadence options, use the dropdown menu on the top right to choose which cadence you'd like to see Objectives and KPIs for:
You can view closed (greyed out), current (solid line), or draft (dotted line) OKRs:
* NOTE: Past OKRs that haven't been closed yet will be marked by a red outline.
Click on the top-right corner of any card to expand and explore more details:
Monitor the health of your Strategic Pillars over time to quickly identify what needs attention. One way to do this is by checking the health of your KPIs.
Scan the Timeline to view KPI health over time for each Pillar. Click to get a list of KPIs and their historic values calculated at end of each timeframe:
You can then align OKRs to your Pillars to set out how you'll turn strategy into results both now and in the future.
OKRs not aligned to Strategic Pillars are also included in their own lane, depending on the timeframe:
If you don't have Strategic Pillars, you'll still see all your OKRs that are not aligned to a Pillar per cadence here.
* NOTE: OKRs will appear here whether the OKRs themselves are aligned to one another or not.
Take action directly from your Strategic Timeline
Add Strategic Pillars
* NOTE: Only Superadmins can add/edit Strategic Pillars.
Add new Strategic Pillars directly to your Timeline using the + in the top-right corner. The order is based on your Map (left-to-right on the Map = top-to-bottom in Strategic Timeline).
Add KPIs and Objectives
Create new KPIs or Objectives (below) by hovering over a Pillar and clicking on the +:
Edit, add context, or delete Strategic Pillars
Use the 3-dot menu when you hover over a Strategic Pillar to edit or delete it:
Use Edit Strategic Pillar > Save in order to rename or add a description to your Strategic Pillar.
Communicate your strategy effectively with additional context that resonates with your team. Add context to explain why this is a Strategic Pillar. Are their trade-offs you'll have to make? Explain your choices so that everyone's on the same page.
